Manteo at Dawn
In researching the Outer Banks I ran across this small lighthouse. The only way I was going to photograph it was if the conditions were absolutely perfect.
The night before this shot the sky was clear without a cloud in the sky. The forecast called for a large storm to be moving in the following afternoon, I feared clouds in the morning. I had to bail on my planned shot and went here as my backup.
The clouds were perfect and the water calm. As the horizon started to lighten up you could see layers of pink lighting up above the lower clouds adding an amazing depth to the sky. This is one of my favorite shots from the trip.
